Our names are Christian Whitmer, Jacob
Whitmer, Peter Whitmer, Junior, John Whitmer, Hiram Page, Joseph Smith,
Senior, Hyrum Smith, and Samuel H. Smith. We all knew Joseph Smith,
Junior in 1830, too. We were his family and friends.

They
looked like gold, and had letters carved in them that were strange and
looked old. He let us touch the plates and pick them up, and that's the
truth.
